Depart Nairobi at 7:00 AM for the scenic 5–6 hour drive through Kenya's Eastern region to Shaba National Reserve — or fly from Wilson Airport to Buffalo Springs Airstrip in just 45 minutes. Arrive at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge at 12:30 PM, nestled on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Check into your luxury room or suite — all with river views, with interconnecting rooms available for families. Lunch at the lodge restaurant, then head out for your first afternoon game drive (4:00–6:00 PM) in Shaba National Reserve in search of the Samburu Special Five (Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Grevy's Zebra, Gerenuk, and Beisa Oryx) and four of the Big Five. Return to the lodge at 6:30 PM for crocodile viewing along the riverbank before dinner under the stars.
